Artecinema | Napoli 15-18 October 2015

artecinema schedule copyArtecinema, an international film festival of documentaries regarding contemporary art, was established in 1996 with the objective of making various facets of contemporary art known to the public at large.

This objective has been attained by presenting a selection of documentaries of important artists, architects and photographers who have worked during the last fifty years and includes interviews, filmed biographies and narratives based upon archive materials which has made it possible to bring the universe of visual arts to life on the screen.

Each year, Artecinema presents a selection of some thirty documentaries from the world over which have been painstakingly sought out directly from the directors and producers. The programme is divided into three sections: Art and environs, Architecture and Photography.

On Friday, October 16th, Dyanna Taylor will participate in the Encounters with directors program at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli. She will talk about her film Dorothea Lange: Grab a Hunk of Lightning in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General to Southern Italy.

The films, shown in the original languages with simultaneous interpretation provided via earphones, are alternated by round table encounters-debates featuring the directors, the artists and the producers. More than 6,000 spectators from all over Italy and abroad participate in the festival.

On Sunday, October 18th, Dorothea Lange: Grab a Hunk of Lightning will screen at Teatro Augusteo at 4 p.m. Director Dyanna Taylor will be there to present and discuss the film.
