Dyanna Taylor is an electrifying teacher and public speaker. My college students were enthralled by her personal and inspiring remarks to my class. Later, an audience of students, teachers, and visitors were stimulated by her presentation and answers to questions after a screening of her film. She possesses a rare talent of being able to communicate with diverse audiences large and small so that the experience is meaningful and memorable.John Friedman – Professor of American Studies/Journalism, State University of New York, Old Westbury
The film, a compelling and intimate look at the life and work of the great 20th century photographer, Dorothea Lange was met with critical acclaim when first aired on PBS American Masters in August 2014. It has subsequently screened across the country including: the Oakland Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, Princeton University, the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, the Amarillo Museum of Art, Louisiana Tech University School of Design, the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, the 23rd Environmental Film Festival in the nation’s capital and at SUNY Old Westbury, New York.Addressing themes of social justice related to some of the most significant historical events of the American 20th century – the Depression, the Dust Bowl, and the Japanese Internment – this film is of interest not only to those in photography and the arts but to social historians and students of women’s issues.
